You hear me banging on about oils regularly; I eat coconut oil everyday, use is as a deodorant, use almond oil on my cuticles and rosehip oil on my skin as an intensive treatment….
And this week on HealthTalks, Nat and I talk about one of my favourite topics, OIL CLEANSING!
Oil has been used for hundreds of years as a cleanser, moisturiser and treatment; and it is only becoming popular once more, now that people are realising the power of a good quality oil on their skin!
I have spoken about skin, skin care and how to look after your skin from the inside before, and I have even shared a video with you on how to give yourself a facial and what I use as well!
It is such a hot topic right now, as oil cleansing is healthy, natural, has no synthetics or nasty chemicals, is economical and good for the environment (no nasties going down the drain!).
Watch the video below with Nat, where I talk about the importance of oil cleansing, and why there are so many myths surrounding it!
Oil cleansing can be practiced by almost anyone; if you are currently using a cream/gel/foam cleanser, soap or even just water, you could definitely benefit from using a brilliant oil on your skin to cleanse.
Oil dissolves oil; a very simple concept actually! Most people love the ‘squeaky clean’ feeling on their skin, however this is something that can be detrimental to the delicate pH balance of the skin, and can cause excessive dryness, red patches, eczema, and surprisingly to most people, an excess of oil.
Your body is such a clever machine! It knows exactly how much oil to produce and where and when it needs to be secreted. Our sebaceous glands regulate the flow of sebum (oil) and it’s always perfect. Unless of course, we start to confuse it! By stripping our skin of the vital oils it needs to achieve that squeaky clean feeling, we are in fact causing the skin to produce and release more oils, which leads to a dull, oily complexion.
However by cleansing with an oil, we are in fact allowing the skin and glands to rest, and for it to absorb what it needs.
Watch below where I show you my natural skin care routine, using the jade roller that I show to Nat.
Jade Rollers are available readily online.
Enjoy your oils Vegies!!!
