If you’ve ever wanted to start your own business, turn your passion into profit, and create the most amazing life for yourself, this is for you….
I’ve been lucky enough over the years to meet some incredible people; some that have taught me a few things about life and moved on, and others that I am blessed to call friends. Abe is the latter.
Motivational, inspirational, and a man that follows his dreams, Abe decided to find out how others followed their dreams, and then wrote a book about it.
The book is nothing short of amazing, and if you are an entrepreneur or want to be one, this book will certainly give you enough fire to burn all year. Over One Billion Dollars in collective revenue….in one book!
Can you tell us a little bit about yourself and your incredible new ebook, “How did they do it?”
I’m 28 yrs old, live in Melbourne, have a beautiful girlfriend, love business, love family and love sport.
I created the book because I read a statistic 2 years ago that 95% of Australians, by the age of 65 will either be dead or dead broke (aka on the pension) after having worked their whole life.
So that means only 5% of Australians, in our ‘land of opportunity’ will ever experience financial freedom. And even less than 5% will experience financial freedom doing what they love. To me, that’s a pretty ridiculous statistic.
The 8 entrepreneurs I interviewed in this book are the small minority doing what they love, and making a big profit doing so.
Reading the book is like sitting down with 8 of Australia’s best entrepreneurs and asking them for help with turning what you love into a profitable venture.
How did YOU do it? (How did you get the entrepreneurs on board with your idea/was it hard to approach them/did you ever worry that they would say no?)
Like anything in getting people on board with an idea or venture you have, I pitched it to them in a way that there was lots of benefits in it for them (brand recognition, free marketing, they get to be in a book etc) and all they had to do was sit down and answer some simple questions.
I made it easy for them.
I also asked them until they realised I wasn’t going to take no for an answer. If they did say no initially, I had a rebuttal response prepared that I would send back to them, asking them again to be involved. 3 out of the 8 entrepreneurs said yes purely because I was so persistent.
Is the ebook geared more towards budding entrepreneurs or just anyone who wants to be inspired?
It’s definitely geared towards aspiring entrepreneurs and current business owners. Most people if I ask them, ‘Would you like to do what you love everyday for work and make a lot of money doing it?” the answer is always yes.
So if you answered yes, the book will add value to your ideas.
Do you have a favourite interview? Has one touched, moved and inspired you in your own life?
The interview with Grant Smillie was one of my favourites, purely because he is such a serial entrepreneur with a brilliant business mind.
I learned a lot from him about being first to market and the benefit of this concept. Dan Flynn the Co Founder of Thankyou Water / Thankyou (stay tuned over the coming days for my interview with Dan!) was super inspiring from the standpoint of, he wakes up every day and dedicates his business model to changing lives around the world. His chapter is an incredible one to read if anyone wants to make a difference with their business or idea.
What is the ultimate message that people will get from the ebook?
YOLO. Seriously though.
We only live once.
Why waste our one and only life waking up everyday doing something that doesn’t inspire us?
Take risks. Discover and commit to doing something you give shit about, like really give a shit about. And then learn how to make that passion make you a lot of money. It’s possible, believe it.
Tell us your biggest goal; what are you plans over the next few years? What can we expect from you?
I’m currently working on a new business venture which was partly inspired by one of the entrepreneurs in the book. Getting that up and running successfully over the next year is one of my biggest goals. A new blog platform for me to share on and also a potential move to the US over the next few years.
What are your favourite quotes from the book?
“No matter what your passion is, you can make a successful business out of it”
CEO Kogan technologies
“The only people who have made a difference are the ones who have been prepared to put themselves on the line.”
“When you grow a business, every single piece of profit you make needs to go back into that business.”
