Hey there, lovely one,

I’m writing this to you, as I sit by the pool in Bali. I’m in a hut – the traditional kind that adorns Balinese Compounds – and have big squishy cushions surrounding me. It’s hot. But not uncomfortably so. Just hot enough to make jumping in the pool heavenly, and getting out a breeze. Not a goosebump in sight.

The smell of frangipani, jasmine and something else… the cool, moist green smell of the tropics – hang in the air. Far off I can hear the beach, but closer to home, I can only pick up some indistinct voices from the rice paddies. The workers, covered up against the sun, are pulling the last of the rice. One of three harvests a year. The miracle of the land, always providing abundantly, will then get ready to be re propagated, and the cycle continues.

The constant chatter in my head, whilst never gone, is certainly quieter. It’s voice is just a gentle whisper, reminding me that in fact, it’s not just ok, but completely necessary to take a break, to get away, and to switch off for a while. To allow someone else to take care of the things I do each day. To have someone cook for me, clean for me, think for me. To not have any expectations around how my day will be, or to have anyone to answer to. There’s something deeply liberating in that. The relinquishing of all control!

I’ve been massaged – deep, strong movements, the small hands belying their strength. Massaging away every thought and care, the everyday and the mundane, a long way away. The knot that has made permanent residency in the upper right of my neck is smaller, as though it’s discarding what it doesn’t need. The tension that holds my body together is melting…melting away, to nothing, into oblivion, into the space where nothing matters. A hamster wheel of thoughts has slowed; perhaps the hamster can rest now?

I sigh, out of pure joy and relaxation – and think – ‘I should share this. I should allow everyone to experience this.’ This is more than just a holiday. It’s a reset. A reset that we all so badly need.

A reset away from the usual, the norm, the mundane. A reset away from work, from home, from our families (as much as we love them!).

For how can we give from an empty cup? And if you’re anything like me – a giver – that cup can get VERY empty before it gets refilled.

It was my 2016 Intention that my year was going to be balanced, fun, and filled with self care and ritual. And I’ve strived to make that balance happen. I’m busy yes- and I know you are too – but ensuring that I created this balance has left me able to do everything I want and more.

So I’d love to invite you to join me. Here, in Bali. Here, for a week away of pampering, of luxury, of someone else doing the cooking, the cleaning, the worrying. A week of whatever you want it to be.A week of joining in on some fantastic experiences.

A week of amazing spa cuisine (catered for vegans/vegetarians/paleo/gluten free/dairy free/sugar free) that someone else cooks.

A week of doing everything, or doing nothing.

A week just for you, to recharge, unwind, reset.

A week of bliss, fun, laughter and adventure.

So, are you in?

FAQ

  • How is the payment plan scheduled?

When you opt for the payment plan option, your first payment of $500 will be deducted on the 7th of November. The subsequent 3 payments of $500 will be taken out on the same day in December, January and February.
  • What if I don't want to participate in the activities?

That's totally ok! It'll be up to you how much or how little you'd like to do. No pressure.
  • Will we get picked up and dropped off to the airport?

Absolutely! You'll just need to forward me your flight details so we can arrange the car.
  • What if it rains the whole time we're away?

Bali weather is warm, but tropical, so some showers aren't uncommon. It's never cold though, and the rain only lasts for a short time, and often late afternoon. You'll all have umbrellas to use as well, and most of the activities are inside.
  • Is it safe?

It is. The Samata is secure, completely surrounded by high fenced retreat, and has a guard 24/7. You'll have a safe in the room, plus we'll be out in a group together. Safety in numbers!
  • Do I need travel insurance?

Yes, most definitely! This is mandatory for all guests, and I'll need to see your insurance documentation prior to departure.
  • I've never travelled with strangers before, and I'm a bit nervous.

That's totally normal, and ok. When you arrive, I'll be there to welcome you, with a big hug and to help you settle in. I'll be sending everyone an information sheet, so I can learn about you, and I'll be pairing you with someone who I think you'll get along with. You'll also be added to a private Facebook group where I can introduce everyone. Being nervous is a part of the journey, promise.
  • Is it possible to stay longer before or after the retreat?

Yes, that’s possible, yet it depends on availability. We'd need to know well in advance to make this possible.
  • How can I pay for the retreat?

We ask for a non-refundable deposit of AUD $500 to secure your booking. The deposit can be made by Visa or MasterCard via PayPal. You will then receive a link in the confirmation email and please follow the instructions to set up the rest of your payments. It is easy and very safe. You may also pay your deposit by bank money transfer - simply contact me at adele@vegiehead.com to arrange this. If you elect to pay upfront, then you can pay through paypal or direct bank deposit/transfer.
  • What if I can't make it?

The non-refundable $500 deposit is just that- non-refundable. It's there to secure your space and to ensure that you remain accountable to the rest of your payments. If you can't continue the payments, or cancel, but have made payments up to 60 days prior, then these payments will be refunded (minus the initial deposit). If you cancel 30 days prior to the retreat, the entire amount is non-refundable - but you can transfer your space to someone else (if you have a friend or family member who can go instead). We do not offer credit for arriving late or leaving early. There are no partial refunds for any services not used while the retreat is going. There are no refunds for arriving late or leaving early. There's no organic certification in Bali or Indonesia, however all produce is locally grown and spray free.
  • Is this retreat just for vegans?

Not at all! All are welcome, as with everything I do. The cooking classes will be vegan, but The Samata's menu is extensive and has every diet catered for.
  • Is smoking allowed?

Not in group or public areas, however if you'd like to smoke, there is a small area where you can go on the grounds.
  • What will the weather be like?

In Bali, there are two seasons, the dry and the wet season. The wet season begins in November and last till March/April, and then it is the dry season with occasional rain. Very rarely do we have rain lasting all day, the rain usually comes in the afternoon or evening. However it's still warm, and even hot most of the time, even with the rain! You'll each have your own umbrella to use as well.
  • IS it ok if I'm coming alone?

Absolutely! All rooms are twin share unless you choose to purchase a single room. You can even come with a friend if you like and opt to share a room with them! Its quite common however, to form newfound friendships on retreat with like minded people. Myself and The Samata team are warm and friendly so you will always feel completely at home and comfortable.
  • Is there an age limit?

I ask that people over the age of 18, or 16 with a parent/guardian - or anyone up to 80! I welcome all.
